How can I explain COVID-19 to my child?
Beacon School Support have written some guidance for adults to support them when explaining Coronavirus to children.  This can be accessed here.  They have also created some support documents to share with children.
  • School is Closed
  • School is Different
  • Coronavirus Social Story

A free information book explaining the Coronavirus to children has been illustrated by Gruffalo illustrator Axel Scheffler.  It can be downloaded here.

Here are some support documents to help explain to your children why some pupils are returning to school:
  • Coming out of lockdown
  • Being a super protector

Free School Meal Information
The School has received some queries from parents as to why they have only been able to collect a food voucher for one child, but not a sibling. This is because an application for any additional children for Free School Meals has not been made.

The most likely cause of this issues is that your child is currently receiving meals under the Universal Free School Meals scheme either in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. This scheme is not covered under this current food voucher scheme.

The School has sent several reminders to parents to apply for Free School Meals outside of the universal scheme, which parents may have missed. If you wish to receive the current food vouchers for any additional children, it is very important that you complete the attached online application.

Once School has received confirmation that an application has been made and has been successful. The school will then add any additional children to its list and any additional food vouchers will be provided.

CAMHS
Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) are a comprehensive range of services that provide help and treatment to children and young people experiencing emotional or behavioural difficulties, or mental health problems, disorders and illnesses.   Please see their website for help and support at this time.

Children and Young Person Advice Helpline
Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust (CWPT) want to support you during the difficult times we are facing due to the Covid 19 situation. To do this they have developed a 24 hour 7 day a week telephone Advice Helpline run by qualified mental health clinicians to be there for you to contact when you need.  Please see more information here.

School Nurse Team
The School Nurse Team are available to parents in case you wish to ask any questions and this can be done via parent line.  Please TEXT them on 07507 329 114  and they will then call you back.
