Pupil Premium
The government believes that Pupil Premium funding, which is additional to main school funding, is the best way to address the current underlying inequalities between children eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) and their peers by ensuring that the funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the pupils who need it the most.
Research shows that children from disadvantaged backgrounds underachieve compared to those who are not from disadvantaged backgrounds. The Pupil Premium is provided in order to support these children in reaching their potential by accelerating their progress.
